Exciting Pulp Western
Range War at Keno follows the traditional Sheepherders vs Cattle Ranchers story line with explosive action. When the hero saves the rich girl from death in quicksand (none too soon, she's standing on her horse's back when he rescues her-the horse is totally submerged.), he thinks he's helping his side but is soon caught in the middle of a sinister double cross. My first Lehman-I will eagerly search for more.

Antiques Freaks Unite!
So you've always been that one freak in a bunch? The one who continually drives their friends off the deep end because of your knee-bending worship to antique toys, stoneware or blanket chests? Well if this is you, take heart! Now, with this book, the Keno twins have finally brought the enthralling world of Americana to a popular audience. They are sure to convert a whole new generation of antiquing freaks with their pulse-quickening stories of adventuring over land and across seas for that perfect piece of American furniture history. No longer will you feel a fool for dragging some uninterested friend or family member to a local museum or flea market only to hear them complain of the heat. Soon they will be joining you with entusiasm, as the dusty world of antiques is bound to take on a new brand of chic with the success of Hidden Treasures. If you're a seasoned professional with hunting stories of your own, you'll feel right at home with the descriptive images of the chase. But beginners are not excluded either, as each chapter is interwoven with priceless tips of the trade and heartening twists that make even a baffled amateur feel empowered to take up the hobby and run with it. Kudos to the Kenos!!!

CALLING ALL "ANTIQUES ROADSHOW" FANS!...
If you are familiar with Leigh Keno and Leslie Keno, the charming, identical twin brothers who often appear as appraisers on the popular "Antiques Roadshow" television program, then you will undoubtedly enjoy this audio book.

While authors do not generally make good readers or narrators of their own works, the Keno twins are the exception to the rule. Just as they do on the "Antiques Roadshow", the twins convey their unbridled enthusiasm for antique American furniture. Their passion is contagious and makes one a truly captive audience. I had purchased this audio book for a road trip and could barely tear myself away from the car until I had finished the audio book in its entirety, as it is so interesting and entertaining.

Born in rural, Mohawk Valley in upstate New York, the twins developed their passion at the feet of their parents who had dabbled in this field. At a very young age, searching for old objects with a history was a hobby that developed into a passion. As teenagers, flea markets were their stomping grounds. As they grew up, they developed by inclination and education into worldly and sophisticated connoisseurs of beautiful rare objects, specializing in antique American furniture, a niche in which they are now foremost experts.

The audio book takes you on the hunt of some of their most prized acquisitions. With an insider's look at the wonderful world of collecting antique American furniture, the twins take the listener on a journey that few would otherwise be able make, as many of their most prized acquisitions bring in six and seven figure sums. The excitement of the hunt, the thrill of the discovery of a valuable piece of antique American furniture, the history of its provenance, and the loving description of the beauty of that piece, all provide a fascinating peek into the rarified world of antiques in which the twins work.

The tone of the book is conversationally chatty and educational. The twins have a wonderful, innate ability to draw the listener into their exclusive world. Their down to earth charm is a delicious counterpoint to the exquisite and rare pieces that they have come across, all of which they share with the listener in detail, lovingly describing the craftsmanship that went into making these beautiful pieces that are so collectible today. This audio book comes with a full color pamphlet that pictorially details the pieces that are the focus of this abridged audio book and serves to enhance this most enjoyable listening experience.

For The Love of Old American Things
"Hidden Treasures" is a friend for anyone whose pulse has ever reacted to the sight of a grand piece of antique furniture. For those who have ever become breathless or teary-eyed over fruniture, it should be required reading. The most appreciated surprise of "Hidden Treasures" is how generous the Kenos are with their knowledge -- reading this book is almost like being enrolled in an advanced course in American furniture complete with field trips and historic background. There's even a textbook like glossary for quick reference to terms.

The world of the Keno brothers is one of extreme privilege and yet, as we travel from their modest and nurturing childhood to the decisive playgrounds of the wealthy -- Sotheby's, Christie's, and the Winter Antiques Show -- we feel welcome, if not at home. That is, perhaps, the most endearing charm of these identical gentlemen -- they are seemly unaffected by their palacial world -- driven primarily by their passion for historic masterpieces of American furniture and a childlike enthusiasm for the hunt. The honesty and power of their passion ignites every page of their book as it does everyday of their lives. And, it is so infectious that many will be inspired to begin plotting their first five, six, seven, or eight-figure purchase of Americana.

My only slight disappointment was with some of the writing. The masterful talent of Thatcher Freund, author of "Objects of Desire" could have been put to good use on this project. I only wish he would have been part of the team. Then, the book would have been perfect -- an American Masterpiece.

I Was Able to get the Edge!
In most casino games it is not possible to actually get a mathematical edge over the casino. But Frank Scoblete explains which video-poker games are the ones where players actually have a long-term chnce to win. This book covers many of the best video-poker gamnes and his strategies are easy to understand and apply in a casino. Very worthwhile book if you want to play one of the best games the casinos have to offer.

Video Poker is the Best Game to Play
Casinos want to take your money but at video poker the player has a chance to actually turn the tables on the casino as Frank Scoblete shows in his book. I have employed his strategies in Atlantic City and in Connecticut and they WORK!!! This book is easy to read and you will learn everything you need to know to get an edge over the casinos.

These Machines Are Different
Frank Scoblete has given us strategies to approach all the various types of video poker machines. Some of these machines are even beatable, while others through a combination of return-percentage and comps can return more than you spend. The key is knowing which machines are which and how to play them. Scoblete gives his strategies in a very simple way, unlike most other video poker books that make it almost impossible to understand what the author is saying. This also has great sections of video blackjack and craps. Keno players will find a section on video keno as well. The book is very well written and Scoblete uses personal anecdotes to keep the book moving. He is a really great writer.

addendum to my previous review
I recommended to buy the plans for the chair. I forgot to say the plans lack of simmetry, hence, use the left hand side for reference to make the templates otherwise you will end up with mismatched pieces!

Fantastic book
This is a fantastic book despite the false claim on the ball and claw foot on the back cover, as the only reference to it is an assembly drawing and photos of assembled chairs that are of no help to anyone wishing to carve a ball and claw foot.
Nonetheless, I highly recommend this book.

Better than a time machine...
When I got this book I couldn't believe what I'd found -- a time machine! Of the few craftsmen of this caliber remaining, few would share their secrets to the extent Ron has... Sure there are other books on 18th century furniture but not written in this much detail and loaded with as many pictures, tips and insights into building such a masterpiece. Everything is covered, all you do is follow the steps guided by the pictures and captions to make a treasured heirloom! All you need to succeed is the ability to follow step by step instructions and a bunch of chisels and gouges...

Title is a Misprint
The title is a misnomer. This is not a guide to winning at Keno. It rather tells of the history of the game, relates the adventures of the author and gives just a brief explanation on how to play the game. I definitely do not recommend this book. It's a waste of your money.

Move from Beginner to Intermediate
This is a book for the non-slot machine Keno player who wants to move from beginner or from an experienced player relying on instinct and common sense, to an intermediate player wise to the in's and out's of this complex and ancient gambling game. Of particular use will be the mathematical formulas necessary to calculate way (or combination) tickets and begin to perceive the odds. For example, it is smarter to play a way ticket of 3 groups of three, or 4 groups of three, or even 5 groups of three? And on a way ticket of 5 groups of 3, just how many combinations of 6 are possible? Or 9? This book shows you how to calculate those numbers. There is nothing new here for the expert player and those who just stuff coins into a Keno slot machine will be equally disappointed. The book is written in a flowing and casual style making it a quick read except for the time spent lingering over and understanding the relatively simple math and reviewing some helpful tables. Lots of excellent tips and info on the game in general. Interestingly, the author relates some short antecdotes about he and his wife's adventures in the casinos playing Keno. It seems she, not the author, may have been the more successful player. I don't know if she followed his advice, but I'd love to read her book! Maybe this isn't the absolute and Compleat Keno but it is all the Keno reference book most of us "play for fun" Keno addicts will need. A good deal for the price.

FOR BEGINNERS ONLY, BUT
I found the book to be very interesting and informative, if you have never played keno before, or if you are just starting to play. I live in Las Vegas and Keno is the only game I play. For me, purchasing this book was a waste of money. For one, the title, WINNING KENO. The book consists of formulas, odds, probabilities, etc., nowhere does it say how to win at Keno. The title maybe should have read MONEY MANAGEMENT WHILE PLAYING KENO. Another thing, like most people in Las Vegas (my opinion), I play video Keno. Of the 51 chapters or so, there is only 1 chapter devoted to video Keno. And, for the most part, I somewhat disagree with Mr. Cowles findings regarding video Keno. I am by no means an expert, but from my experiences, my conclusions are completely opposite of his. His theory is that it is completely random and that's it. My theory is that there are good and bad machines depending what part of the program they are in. Good in the sense that they constantly repeat numbers and patterns, and bad in the sense that they continuously give out scatterd numbers with no blocks (groupings). In any event, I would definitely never, never recommend this book to any of my friends or family, if they are already into the game of Keno.

Excellent Book For Beginners
This book does an excellent job of explaining the various types of keno tickets. I was disappointed to find quite a few spelling and grammatical errors. I would recommend the book for beginners and for those players who are wanting to learn about "way" and "combination" tickets.

Casino Keno
This book was very basic, had nothing in it that you couldn't find on a pamphlet handed out for free at any casino. There was only one page that had some keno tips on it that may be helpful to some people, especially people new to the game of keno. But for anyone else that has played this game before, there is nothing new in this book that we keno players don't already know.
