This is One of Two Text Books for Craps
I just took the Golden Touch craps dice control course with Sharpshooter and Frank Scoblete in Tunica, Mississippi. This book and Frank's Forever Craps were the text books for the course. They are must reading if you want to learn the basics of dice control and how to bet on random rollers when they are shooting. I also recommend their course. You can go to their website ... to find out more about it, but don't take the course until you have thoroughly read this book and Scoblete's book. They are both great books.

Start Your Education Folks!
The game of craps is no longer a game that can't be beaten. The work of Frank Scoblete in Forever Craps and Sharpshooter in Get the Edge at Craps has shown us that utlizing certain dice sets, grips, and delivery methods, coupled with good betting strategies, the game of craps can be overcome by skilled controlled shooters. Having seen both Scoblete and Sharpshooter in action at the tables, I can tell you that these two have mastered what they preach.

As a previous reader wrote, I too have taken a course under the instruction of Sharpshooter and Frank Scoblete. I too have learned the technique. It isn't something that is easy, but dice control can be an acquired skill if you work at it. This book by Sharpshooter is the textbook that you should use for your approach to dice control as it has just about everything imagineable on the subject. If, after reading this book, you want to learn from the masters themselves, you can go to their website goldentouchcraps.com and learn about their classes.

Something New in the Field of Gaming
On a recent trip to Las Vegas, I stopped by the Gambler's Book Store for a look. The gentleman there asked if he could help me, and when I replied that I was just looking to see what was new out there, he opined that there was really nothing new to be written in gaming for the traditional table games.

I would like to think that Sharpshooter's book is something new. Sure, controlled or rhythmic throwing and setting are not new topics. What is new is the integration of all elements and presents to the crap player with an open mind the actual techniques that can be done by anyone willing to put in the time to practice and fully understand and integrate all that is presented. While another reviewer mentions that more in depth presentations have been made by other authors such as Scoblete and others, I doubt if any of them presents it in as systematic and as simple as Sharpshooter does here.

There are people that believe that all dice throws are random and nothing we can do can influence that. This book will probably not change your mind. But to those that are open, there are mathematical and logical presentations, as well as rigid mechanics arguments that would have you think that it can be possible. For those that are open to that, this book will detail exactly how you can learn to do it.

As a disclaimer, I have to reveal that I have taken a course taught by Sharpshooter and have seen these things in a casino, as well as had a beginning level of success commensurate to my experience. I will say that the book contains almost everything that was presented in the course materials, with nothing held back. I am a health professional, and my educational background is strongly weighted in the science and mathematical fields. The arguments that Sharpshooter presents are mathematically and physically sound. Everything that Sharpshooter presents in his seminar is here, save the personal instruction on your personal mechanics.

You will not be able to control the dice 100% of the time. Even Randy Johnson doesn't strike out every single batter he faces. But by controlling the outcome of as little as 1 throw in 43 will put you at break even with the casino. Any better than this yields a positive edge in the casino. Compare that to what card counters experience as an edge in blackjack.

For someone that is looking for a different approach to craps than the standard money management angles, this is a book that can give them something new.

A winner
This book is written very well, for the new player, up to the experienced player that wants to cut the houses odds. The odds and 'right' ways to bet are clearly and concisely explained. I see people betting all the time on '[easy]' bets. (bets where the casinos odds are greater that you'll lose) This book points out WHY these bets are bad, in the long run, and the proper bets to make, that cut the house odds and make your money last longer. Who wouldn't want the houses 'edge' cut from over 5% to less than 1%?
With just a little luck you'll win more often using the strategy this book spells out. You'll have more fun. And you'll be at the table longer. (gets you more comps) *wink*
Don't waste your time and money on other so called 'craps books'. I've bought several, before this one, and this one beats them hands down. It's short and sweet, yet very thorough.

Walk away a winner- Well written- The bible of craps
The book is very well written. I have followed the method he teaches, and either played the pass or don't pass lines according to how cold the table is playing, and I walked away a winner. He also stresses that if the way you are playing does'nt work, you probably are having a choppy table, and should walk away. If you work the system when someone is rolling a hot hand, the chances of winning increases. He stresses that walking away a winner is important. If after an hour at the table, walk away. It is very important to have an attitude that you are playing to win. I have reread the book to enforce the techniques so they become natural. I have recommended this book to my friends.

First time to the casino after reading this book I won $800.
I've always stared in wonder at the craps games in Atlantic City. This book not only taught me how to play but how to win.

This is a great craps NOVEL that will teach you how to win
Tina Trapp herself learns how to play craps, and then for a full year she learns more and more and eventually becomes an expert player. It doesnt happen overnight. I learned all about craps from this book, plus parts are funny and it is easy to read. There are a lot of "adult" parts too so this not a kid's book, but the main emphasis is on craps. It takes place in Las Vegas and is very realistic, who knows, it might have really happened. Later on in the book she goes into advanced systems which were pretty interesting. The plot was interesting too and it had a happy ending as well.

Great Book!!!
Really informative.....opened up the complex game of craps and
I actually understood it......great book!

Tina is Tops!!!
If like me, you love the game of craps, then you will want this book. Tina tells you all about her life as a Vegas "Lady of the Night" and about learning to play craps. Follow along as she goes from a callgirl to business woman. Along the way Tina passes along lessons learned at the craps table. Some interesting and profitable systems are laid out for you. This book does have adult content so be warned.

Advantage Craps

It worked for me, just follow the rules.
I was a winner with this book. Yes, I loss some money at the tables, but I did come out ahead on two out of three sessions at 3 different casinos. When I didn't follow the book to the letter I got hammered. When I followed the rules I won. I don't think I would have made the money I did without this book. It's worth the 29 bucks. I made that back 20 times over.

This is a Top Notch Book on Craps!
If you want to learn a proven method of winning at craps, then I recommend this manual. It contains a complete step-by-step set of instructions that make learning how to win easy, even if you have never played the game.

I had not played craps prior to reading "Advantage Craps." I am now able to win between $300 and $500 per day betting small. If you want to learn how to play the game correctly and make a lot of money playing, then you must purchase this manual.

I also liked the ...free coupons I got with the book. This makes this book the bargain of the year. Before you risk a dime in any casino, buy this book, try this system and prosper!

You Can Win 90% of the Time!
If you want to put a lot of money in your pocket fast, this system is for you. The author claims it wins over 90% of the time, and I have verified these results. I am winning over 91% of my sessions and chuckling all the way to the bank!

The system produces consistent winning sessions with infrequent losses. I also play blackjack and poker, and without a doubt I am making more money at the crap tables using the Advantage Craps strategy than I ever did at blackjack or even poker.

I know this flies in the face of conventional thinking that a game of chance can't be beaten. That is what I believed too before experiencing the power of this system.

If you really want to beat the casinos, here is your chance. I give Advantage Craps my highest endorsement!

One of the best books ever about how to make more money!
This book is so different than any other craps book. It proves you can make money playing craps by setting the dice and if you practice enough you will learn how. You need to throw the dice softly so they do not bounce around much and it doesnt work all the time but whenever I shoot, I ALWAYS set the dice. After all, what can you lose by doing so? If anything at all will help me avoid throwing sevens I will do it. He spends a lot of time on the different pre-sets, like A-A, A-C, C-C, and lots more, so you can set the dice for specific outcomes. For example you want MORE sevens for the come out and LESS sevens afterwards. He also goes into wrong betting, the unknown curse, charting place betting and lots more. Quite a lot of good stuff in this book, it really opened my eyes.

The only book there is on presetting the dice and its great!
This book is great, it taught me exactly how to hold and arrange the dice whenever I am the shooter. It takes no extra effort and if Im going to shoot I might as well preset the dice first anyway. Thanks to this book Ive been doing pretty good, averaging 8 rolls before the seven shows. It also shows how to preset for certain things, like inside places, hard ways, etc. A gem of a book with a lot of good, new ideas never presented anywhere else before.

Well worth it! read below!
Hello from Dublin, CA. This book has helped not only myself, but the entire group in which we go to Tahoe, Reno and Vegas. WE all shoot togther at the tables and all set the dice. A few places get a little upset at us ,only when we win. We always have the correct answer for them, being smart players and trying to stay 1 step ahead of them. The price of this book, is not even 1 roll of the dice for us! Better yet, all 5 of us went in on it, so its almost free! You should find some of your freinds, or hook up with us, we take trips every month! We all need more practice, so our next venture is to build a 3/4 craps table, and all practice and have fun at the same time! Then, in between each trip we can practice all different strategies The book has some good fundmentals on setting the dice. Good luck at the tables to all of you!

Worst book ever
Having read several books on craps, I bought this book based on the reviews of other players. My advice would be to save your money for the tables.

The author's book is 80 pages long, but he says nothing of importance. Most of the pages contain very few words, and are mostly white space. He described his method as innovative, but perhaps because I read the book in 15 minutes, I missed it. He says that the pass/don't pass bets are "horrendous wagers" along with odds, come/don't come bets (page 60). Reader, tell me where I am wrong, but isn't the smallest house edge in the game on the pass/don't pass bets? And isn't the best bet in the house the odds on a come or don't come bet, where you receive the true odds on your wager?

You would do well to avoid this book at all costs.

Cutting the Crap our of Craps
Anyone who is serious about playing craps should read this book. I would especially recommend this book to new players and anyone who has never played before but is considering playing craps. After reading this book, you will know more about craps than 90% of the players. Only 1% of long-term craps players are winners. This book will definitely help to put anyone in that 1% group.

A lot of really good info packed into a short concise book
If you want to "cut the crap" out of your craps this is the book to do it, "Now you can WIN at craps" the book says, and its true. It tells you what the really bad bets are (and why) like PASS AND COME BETS, the bets all the other gambling authors say to make - these are BAD BETS and he tells you exactly why! He tells you the BEST bets (and why) AND taught me how to chart the tables! PLus there is a real interesting chapter on eighteen ways to win but only 6 ways to lose! As I said before a lot of good info is packed into this book - if you want to read something different from the rest, study and apply what he says - and you will cut the crap out of your craps!

Confessions of a Crap Artist

interesting but ultimately disappointing
I'd heard only good things about this book, so being a pkd fan, I expected an intriguing read. For the first 80 pages or so, it was, but after that it drifts into less pleasant territory. The dialogue at points is clunky and unnatural, and sometimes the character's motives are not believable (for example, Charley wanting to kill his wife; Jack's amusing but unjustified creating a "story" for Charley). Despite the fact that some of this is drawn from the author's life (faye is based on one of his real-life wives), it feels like he doesn't really know these characters. They serve the plot rather than vice versa. Also pkd's strengths -- his humor and elaborate imagination -- are tied up.

Knopf requested a rewrite for this novel circa 1960 and sadly the author never revised it, despite not finding a publisher for it until 1975. Oh well, I suppose I'll have to pick up "three stigmata" or "dr bloodmoney" for my pkd fix.

May not be sci-fi, but still plenty innovative
There are no aliens or time travel in this novel, but that doesn't mean this book isn't without Dickian genius. In _Confessions_, Dick uses multiple POVs -- two first-person (by Jack and Fay) and two third-person narrations (in the minds of Charlie and Nate) -- and does it without even telling us (unlike Faulkner in As I Lay Dying). In the beginning it sort of comes as a shock, but you get used to it quite nicely, and Dick does a good job of sticking to the voice.

As far as the plot was concerned, it's nothing like Dick's sci-fi novels -- fairly straightforward, even simplistic, you might say: the story of Jack, the brother of Fay, who stays with Fay and Charlie and gradually learns that maybe he isn't so bad off after all compared to these "sane" people. I think the ending comes a little too quickly and easily, but overall, it's a solid effort.

After having read now about ten Dick novels, I think it can be safely said that he was no real fan of women. I believe Dick's women by and large tend to be deceptive, nasty creatures, Fay being perhaps the worst of the lot.

Dick's mainstream attempt that bites deep
Over the last two decades Philip K. Dick has slowly gained in repute as one of this centuries' most inventive and prolific authors: a sci-fi auteur who cranked out pulp masterpieces by the dozen while surviving on horsemeat and methamphetamine. There are several themes prevalent in the majority of Dick's oeuvre: paranoia, drugs, the nature of God, schizophrenic time/space variations, aliens, semi-tragic characters in often archetypical clothing. _Confessions of a Crap Artist_, however, contains almost none of these bizarre themes; as one of Dick's stabs at the mainstream, _Confessions_ is a straightforward examination of life in Southern California the 50's, with 'normal' people co-existing by 'wackos,' both of whom, in typical Dick fashion, change places over the course of the novel.

Jack Isodore is a crap artist, a collector of crackpot theories and useless junk, a man endlessly fascinated by the world's unexplained secrets be they legitimate or not. But he is also happy and fairly satisfied by his life, something that cannot be said for his sister-in-law Judy and her husband Charlie, painted in broad strokes as a shrew and the man she uses, respectable on the surface but narrow-minded and demented when closely examined. Their 'American Dream' lifestyle, the house and the farm and the three little kids, is altered/destroyed by manipulation and dissatisfaction with said 'Dream', and when set in place next to Jack's lackadaisical routines and surprisingly strong moral fiber, the line between crazy and normal blurs with rapid intensity.

Along with _The Man in the High Castle_, this is among Dick's most lucid works, and probably the place novices should start first. Though a quick read, the implications and undercurrents of _Confessions of a Crap Artist_ should resonate within the reader for some time after completion, which, in my opinion, is the truest mark of a worthwhile book. Recommended.

11 Craps Strategies

Great for Beginners
This book does suggest 11 different strategies, but doesn't really explain well how to successfully win on all them. Most strategies are built on the previous ones. It's very good for giving you an overview of what strategies you can play in Craps, but doesn't really tell you how to make it profitable. This book is great for a beginner. If you are familiar with craps already, you might want to pass. Good explanation of Place and Odds betting.

This is a good book for the beginner craps player only
This was my very first craps book and it taught me how to play. It does have 11 craps strategies in it but they are not real "systems" just methods of play. Now looking back it is pretty basic but when I didn't know how to play they all looked advanced to me! If you don't know how to play or you are a beginner, this is a great book for you but if you already know all the odds and some systems you won't like this. It will make a great gift for someone who doesnt know how to play though.

A terrific craps book for the intermediate player!
The basic intermediate plays were all laid out in an easy to read disciplined format. All eleven strategies were extensively described and I read the exact proceedures for where, when and how to place all eleven bets! A GREAT book!

Craps Made Simple

Basic details were covered in a simple manner.
As a novice I found this book helpful at learning the very basics of craps. To me, the bold print and the drawing were helpful.

After reading this book and going to the casino I found that I could perform basic functions and know what I was doing. What I am desiring after a few trips to the casino is a second stage (an intermediate level) that goes into brief straight-forward details of other bets on the table. I realize these bets are not recommended, but I have seen the table "hot" and nice rewards gained there.

I enjoy the game and I am ahead. If the table is cold (or turns cold) I walk away.

Craps Made Simple
This book is by far the most concise book I've ever read on craps. The language used made it easy to understand and very easy to implement. On my first trip to Las Vegas, after reading the book, I was able to win at craps for the first time. Thank you Mr. Gallager. You made my trip to Vegas very enjoyable.

Great for the beginner
This book only has 26 pages so I guess on a price per page basis its cost is high. Another way to look at it is that its simplicity makes understanding the game easy for the beginner. There is none of the usual filler material to page through and skip. Every page is right on target.

It gives you an insight about money management on craps
It takes several months to read this book completely. This book does not drive you to go to casinos. However, the author emphasizes that money management is more important than knowing the rules of craps. John Patrick argues to the reader to have the feelings of "Bank Roll" and "Charting the table". Yes, that was really important lesson that I have learned from him. I recommend to buy this book if you want see it how the craps professional manages his winning! Thank you for reading my comments. From, wyse at Seoul, Korea.

Advanced Craps Review
Personally, I read the special 600pp edition of this book, available through the publisher, but I imagine this one is similar, and that the extended version is just that, extended. This is a great book because it stresses the most important factor in gambling, money management. There is no way, no matter what anyone says, no matter which system you play, to gain an edge on the house in craps. The best you can achieve is close to but not exactly 50-50. This book is the best I have read, in terms of money management. Some people may not like to hear the reality of gambling(IT WILL NOT MAKE YOU RICH! )but John Patrick's book is exactly that, REALITY! If you want a get rich quick scheme, don't buy ANY gambling books! If you want to minimize your losses and maybe come home a small winner, then this is a great book for you. What I like about John Patrick is that he doesn't preach a system, he simply gives you ideas, and states that any systems or variation is fine, as long as you know how to manage your money. This book is great for those who want to know about the reality of gambling. By far the best book on craps I have ever read!

John Patrick's betting methods make alot of sense.
I have read other books on craps and most of them spout the same methods. Patrick tells you other ways of betting while attempting to reduce your overall cash risk.
It is written in a humorous manner.
His mathematics are a little off but his ideas on how to play the game are good.
I highly recommend this book
